April 16- day in Death Valley...saving memories for I can't do theses things anymore...

Hottest place on earth (record of 57 degrees celcius), driest place in the USA (less than 2 inches a year) and lowest point in Norrh America at 282 feet below sea level!
And I think the most expensive fuel anywhere..

And amongst the heat and dryness life exists....

Steph chauffeured us around the area...

Coolest place was walking out on the Salt flats into the water at Badwater. Aptly named.

The closer to the water the harder the sand.

Saw an older lady all covered in Salt....she had walked down to the water and splashed in the water.....she said.. " I'm saving memories for when I can't do these things anymore".....words to live by....

Saw 2 of these oddly wrapped cars ....

Hot and thirsty were were looking for a shady spot....hit the jackpot...

After lunch and a cold brewskie we were back on the dusty trail..

The boys dropped us off at the Visitor Centre and on the way back we happened the most amazing place smack dab in the middle of this dryness..it felt and sounded and smelled ike we were in Hawaii...
Cute flower lined "carless" streets lined with little rental bungalows...

Dinner.....cocktails...sunset ....followed by a cool evening of star gazing....

Thank you Death Valley for adding to our memories....
